6# Mono works for UL, to twist leaders this way.

Recognize that there is a significant difference between the "furled" leader referenced in the video linked to by Edgehill, and the furled leaders that are typically commercially available. (Or made by DIY individuals.) Here's a link to a tutorial that explains the "other" furling process used in making these leaders: http://www.hatchesmagazine.com/page/may2006/185Some individuals take the process described in that link and implement additional "machinery" or methods into the system, making it faster and much more accurate / consistent, but the process is basically the same. ---David

I don't make mine, but Cutthroat makes a furled leader for small rods, and it works great for my 6'6" 2-wt.

Don't go to the furled leader proboards forum,( just kidding) I made that mistake about three weeks ago, and have become totally immersed in making the perfect leader, Sooo much info and those guys are like rocket scientists, they have helped me tremendously in every aspect of my quest for the ultimate UL Leader.
