I have not been posting for quite a while being busy with School, Work, and Traveling. For this off topic post I thought I would share with you my first mourning dove hunt, ironically, hunting in the evening :lol I was hunting by myself and got 3 dove. I had to pick my shots carefully because I was the shooter and the retriever. For the first bird I got he came flying in with some others and I took my shot. I missed him and he circled back, the next shot hit him and he curled up and was heading for the ground. With a swamp in front and heavy brush behind me he fell 1 foot away from the path. Which made it easy to find and exciting!

Tasted like store bought chicken. My mom wouldn't try it and I have no idea why. I told her it was fresher than any stuff she got from the store but she didn't care. What's the secret to getting people to try game?!

do not tell them till dessert. Model 12 love to get hands on old one that you can hold trigger down and empty tube by running the pump. Home security at its best.

I used a Creole spice and wrapped them in a piece of bacon! Takes 5 mins and tastes **** good.

Nice post. Bet the Doves have some nice soft hackle feathers if your into tying at all.

Sweet vintage field gun! my uncle has a twin. He goes through more ammo than guys shooting auto loaders ..lol..

I agree with the 'non disclosure' advice.. maybe mix some grilled domestic super market meats and Dove all on same platter. No need to say anything, let guests make choice.
