Took this new to me 6' one weight to my local spring creek today.
Great feel to it and effortless to cast. Seems the less muscle you give it the nicer it casts.
It's just about not enough rod here in NZ though IMHO so l only plan to use it where l know the trout are usualy on the smaller side.
With a Hardy Flyweight it feels just right in hand. Lined it with a Cortland spring creek WF1 line and it really shines.

Sounds like fun. Also an excuse to go where the trout are on the smaller side!

Mike, I'm glad the rod feels good for you, but it pains me to think of how you are being forced to settle for catching little dinky fish. It really bothers me that you have to suffer that indignity. I will gladly pay the shipping charges, and you can send it to me for disposal. I have a very good disposal site nearby. There's no need to thank me, it's just the least I can do for my fellow man. I'll keep your disposal service in mind.
I've been fishing this little creek quite often after work as l knock off at 2:30. Been getting lots of 1 to 2 + lb. trout so l'm spoiled for sure.
This little stick is so much fun l can't help but to wonder what the F2 3 wt's are like.
I better lie down till l get over this !
Ain't light line rods fun.

Where I live, a 2 lb trout is a beast.

If I were catching lots of 1 to 2+ pounds trout on a 1 weight, I would need to lie down too. I once said I could see no reason to drop below a 3 weight, but now I have several 2 weights that I really enjoy fishing, and I have begun to entertain thoughts of a 1 weight.

I too have a hand full of 2 wts. Three Orvis 7' 9" and two Dennis Franke 8' 9" sticks.
The Scott is my only 6' rod but just plain dry fly fun.
Again l'm amazed at at how pleasant it is to cast. Forget about any wind though as you might expect.

Speaking of the 2 Dennis Franke rods; are those GlasTech? If so, you really possess some very nice toys, Michael. By the way, did you ever find a replacement for that Wood River bag?

My Frankes are his latest carbon fiber 2 wts. A Meadow Maiden and a Para. His attention to detail is just super.
As for the Wood River bag.....no replacement yet unfortunatly. Darn
