My rod closet in the garage is stuffed with rods. I tend to focus on one or two rods to the exclusion of others for a while. Then one day I will pull out a rod I haven't fished in a while. My usual thought afterward is "that's really a nice rod, why don't I fish it more often".

And remember the days when we owned only one rod!

I just yesterday found a rod I’d bought awhile back and forgotten I’d bought it until I took it out of its bag . Took it fishing this morning and got skunked . Guess it needs to go back in hiding . :)
Got me to thinking , maybe it’s time to stop buying and spend more time using what I have . Gillchaser

Good advice that’s hard to heed.

What blank did you use for the "home built" rod?

I believe it’s a Rainshadow blank . I think I bought it from H&H . They have a four piece now . That would be neat to build .
I built that one and another one with a green Matrix blank from Cabelas . I can’t tell much difference between the two .
You can tell they’re homemade , but they work .
I’ve been thinking of giving it another go . I still have my homemade wrapping stand .
That’ll be a project this winter . Gillchaser
