First , I bought this rod to chase Micro fish . Smaller than most folks fish for . Most who fish for micros use bait . I prefer flies .
I started off using a wf3 line as I was making short casts . It did ok , but when I switched over to a 4wf I was able to flip my fly just about where I wanted . I’ve ordered a couple double tapers to try . I caught a small bluegill on my first cast . Ended up catching 13 , a bakers dozen in about an hour . Not exactly a bonefish :) .
But Look at the bars on these !

Thanks , the flies are a size 18 wetfly hook wrapped past the bend with black micro chenille , with rubber micro centipede black/white legs tied in just behind the eye . The legs swim when falling or twitched .
My leaders are just a 4-5’ piece of 12# Big Game mono with about 3’ of 5X tippet material or sometimes a piece of 4# mono . . Gillchaser

Here’s a pic showing one of my spiders tied on a Mustad 3366 size12 which is my original size for when I’m not targeting the little guys . I use small chenille but same centipede legs . I also tie these in colors . White bodied one did pretty good the other day on a stained creek . Gillchaser

Beautiful colors on those fish. Where I wet a line is in a back slough of a larger
lake and the BG were big and plentiful, some easily in the 8"+ range. However,
there were two families with many small fisher kids. As long as dad had a valid
fishing license the small ones could fish. Each one had a short pole with a Zebco
real and a cup of worms, that mom kept baited all the time. The only problem
is that all the fish the size that you have shown us were taken home for dinner.

They used to yell at me for C&R. The last time I was there to show my G Grand-
kid what fishing was all about there were no fish to be seen or caught. It appears
all the good breading stock had been removed from this area.

Does anyone know what would be the recovery period for BG in any given area?
