I love to read, right now I'm enjoying The Complete Angler by Izaak Walton & Charles Cotton; 5th edition (reprint).

Tell us what your reading right now, or what you plan to read soon.

I just finished reading Trout Lessons by Ed Engle. It's the first fly fishing book I've read and I really enjoyed it.  I went out fishing today and used a couple of the ideas it talked about - must have worked out as I caught a few fish.

I actually have started to read it again ...

Just finished rereading The Art of Tying The Wet Fly & Fishing The Flymph for the umteeenth time. Got it in the early 70's as a youngster. I have & read Roger Fogg's book Wet Fly Tying & Fishing- Good Read ! Fogg's new book The Upstream Wet Fly is on its way. I finished rereading Peter O'Reilly's Fly Fishing In Ireland earlier this week. Last weekend I breezed through another of my 1st fly fishing books-Peter Barrett's In Search Of Trout which featured the mighty Ted Trueblood & publisher Jim Rickoff among other notables of that era. Another good read is the soft cover reprint of John Atherton's The Fly & The Fish- (Cheep in the used book dealers).

I finished 3 weeks ago, on my vacations, "A River Never Sleeps" by Roderick L. Haig-Brown. What a great reading! Next in the list are:

1.- "Fishing the Film" by Gary Borger
2.- A signed copy of "Nature of Fly Casting: A Modular Approach" By Jason Borger

Tying Small Flies by Ed Engle; good stuff as that's almost exclusively what I tie and fish with. Too much nymph stuff for my taste, but I realize that's probably what the majority would want to read about.

This book, A Fly Fishing Guide to Rocky Mountain National Park, is one of the best regional guides I have ever come across and was recommended to me by a fellow who guides in the Park.  Not only is the book well done with tons of info and great photos, the website has a trove of information.  I have no affiliation or connection with the publishers or the author - I just feel this is the way a guide should be written.  I'm on my third time through it.  If you ever plan on fishing the Park, this is the guide to get.

i am re-reading James Babb's books- they are just excellent. if you have not read his books, highly recommend.
books are
crosscurrent
river music
flyfishin fool
fish wont let me sleep.
Babb not only knows his stuff about flyfishing but he is a great humorist.
a rare combination- he doesnt take the sport or what goes with it seriously.

another is wd wetherells books- very good reading.
and anything by Gene Hill.

I found a copy of "The Philosophical Fisherman" by Harold F. Blaisdell in my local library :) . Copyright 1969, so you can see that it is kinda old. Blaisdell seems to be a curmudgeon with some of his statements, but it is a fun read once you get beyond the first chapter.

I was thinking of ordering Lefty's Fly-Casting Fundamentals. Anybody have an opinion on that one in terms of instruction?

I'm also coveting some of Jason Borger's more recent books but alas cannot afford them :)
