Unsociable wrote: They are some of the prettiest I've seen. They truly are some of the most beautiful fish swimming in our streams, lakes and rivers . There's a river I fish occasionally about an hour and a half south of me called the Ocmulgee river . There's a variety of sunfish I catch down there that will rival any salt water fish . They are primarily yellow with teal specks . I was just talking with one of my fishing buddies about making a trip down there . The fish are small , with a big one being maybe five inches long , but they are absolutely the prettiest freshwater fish I've ever caught including the redbreast . If and when I get down there I'll tke some pics and post them . gillchaser

Unsociable, you best not let them know you have a weapon, as you may well know that they will kill you to get it!!! That is a big problem in South Africa, finding safe places to fish.

Gillchaser ... I've got a spot like that in Oregon .. A series of 3 ponds behind the library in town,...the land was once owned by a company that was going to build An industrial plaza, they posted it ....and went bankrupt, posted signs still up, the town owns the land, I called and they said, your a taxpayer, you own it, have fun fishing ...never see anyone fishing ... They all obey the posted signs ...loaded with small LM bass and nice size bluegills ... I C&R em also ....

For me it's for sure trout/char. But it's hard not to love the fight of a 'Gill ! If Bluegill got to 5lbs I don't think we would ever land them on Ultralight tackle! Randy Big Browns on #14 Chironomid pupa!

I would have to say Cutthroat trout They very so much in color from river to river and are almost always willing to take a dry, my personal favorite cutthroat is the greenback cutthroat.

Smallies, As much as I love wading for trout in the rivers and streams, nothing brings me closer to the edge than seeing a big smallie, jump....again ....and again... and again. Then just when you think they are done......they run and jump some more

I reposted my gill photo in my previous post . And here’s a more recent picture of a nice gill I caught two days ago at the Town pond on my new 6’6” 3wt fiberglass rod . They’re still a few left in there . Gillchaser The rod bend
