Thank!

For sure don't throw it away!. If you have a lighter rods it might work for them. My best running line for a shooting tip was the back end of a WF 3wt; it was perfect: very light so that it gave distance and easy to manage.

Ok, Thanks...Now have to do some research on making a shooting line for the 3 weight. I know I have some 5 weight sinking line that was on my first fly rod that is in good shape and will not be used again!
Thanks again!

Also if you should decide to try Tenkara fishing, could use a length of it for a Tenkara line.

Larry Larry, I think 3 wt fly line would be to heavy for tenkara. The tenkara floating lines offered by Patagonia and others is based on 00 wt I believe.

Knotty, My impression is that the 3 weight is based on the first 30 feet of line which is most of the weight forward head. The running line portion would be much lighter than that, probably no more than 1 weight. I have 3 different lines to use with my Tenkara: a furled line, a fluorocarbon line, and a level fly line which looks about the same thickness as a 3 weight running line.

Thank! If I had something like that the first thing I would want to to is weigh 30 feet of that level line to know exactly what it is. In fact, one thing on my to-do list for today is to shop for a suitable digital scale that will make it easier to determine the weight of some lines or potential lines that I have on hand.
