I've purchased Cabela's sink tip lines in the past and cut off the tips to use just the floating line.
Some I've cut into pieces to experiment with and concluded I don't want to fish sink tips.
Don't recall how many I have, but I would be happy to send them to anyone who wants them free
of charge.
If anyone is interested PM me and I'll get them in the mail; give me a heads up if you PM me.

I buy the "seconds" sinking 4 weight lines from Discount Tackle in Denver, Colorado and cut them up into 3',5',7', and9' pieces and whip a loop on each end. I carry those with me and if I need to go deep I remove my leader, install the sink tip and usually just use a four foot piece of mono with the sink tip. This eliminates the need to carry a separate spool of sink tip line. Its just about as easy to change the sink tip as to change the line spool on a reel. Those sink tips which are cut off a sink tip line are probably tapered and may cast better than my set-up.-p-
