Aaron: Very nice! True to the title of the blog, you have cut through the BS and made fly fishing more accessible. Therein lies the future of the sport. I particularly enjoyed your well-informed, unvarnished (oops- pun) truth about flyrod quality, origins and pricing. brent

VERY well put together! Down to earth and very sensible gear recommendations! I agree with bascially everything, except maybe 5 and 6 wt rods have their place for me....

good advice. you dont need to spend a lot to get into the sport. you can find good quality inexpensive choices in fly fishing tackle if you just ask around, and do some research. online forums are a great resource.
btw, LP, though likely not politically correct for the UL Forum, i too favor 5/6 weights for most of my fishing. my most fished rods are 5 weight fiberglass.

That was brilliantly written, and very informative. In a short, that article is nothing but pure truth. It's good to see an article like that to help beginners out keeping is simple and down to earth, without all the hype and hoopla why you should only buy a top of the line rod.
I know myself some of the more affordable rods are to me a better buy for the conditions they may be fished in. Who needs a $600 graphite rod for situations where you won't be casting longer than 25ft.?
