Picked up the 3 wt. Can anyone that has this rod recommend a C/P reel and line for it?

I really like the Redington Zero. Some people say the click is too loud, but I don't think it is nearly as loud as a Hardy Lightweight. And once you have line on the reel it is quieter. Another very light reel that I like very much is the Wychwood River & Stream. I don't know of anybody in this country that sells it, but it is available from Harris Sportsmail in England at a reasonable price. The River & Stream is a neat little reel weighing only 1.8 ounces. Other nice click/pawl reels are the Orvis Battenkill and the L.L. Bean Pocket Water.

I have both the Redington Zero and Battenkill I and II and I think a Battenkill I would be perfect for that rod. Looks right, too. I've thrown the $19 Maxcatch WF3F on that rod and it was just fine.

Of course I don't really need any more rods, but since when does need come into the equation? After all I am in the process of selling one of my 3 weight rods I rarely use, and thus have a void to fill. Also with the additional 10% off today only, how could I not take advantage of getting another 3 weight rod for $35.99?

I bought three of them a 2,4 and the 5/6. Waiting on a Maxcatch 2/3 ECO to arrive. In the Cabela's in MA the Zero 2/3 was listed at $54, when it is normally $89. The store price did not match the web price - the web was $89.

I have an older C&P LL Bean Streamlight 4/5 that I use on my 3wt & 4wt rods and it will work on the 2st too. The Battenkill is a very nice reel, at least the 20+ year old one I have is in 5/6. I wish I had the smallest one and will likely pick one up eventually.

Good luck!

On my 3 wt CGR I use WF3 line and a Cahill Crystal River reel I buy from Academy; price of the reel is $15 and I really like them. You will have to file down the reel foot (made of graphite) to make it fit
but that only takes about 15 minuets.

I got 2 of the 5s with the new D grip and reel seat. ALMOST ordered the 6'6" 4, but I decided the 7' for the kids and I to fish was best. I've heard this new version of the 7' 5wt is a slower action. HOPING, cause I didn't like the previous version, just to fast.
