I'm not given to impulse buying, but at the outdoor show yesterday, I found a new Cortland CRX 7' 3wt for about $38 US, and could not ignore it. It will serve as a backup rod or loaner/trainer. I know little to nothing about it other than it seems to be a pretty fast action and looks well-enough made for the price. Plus, I've been pleased with the other Cortlands in my 'quiver'.
Any thoughts, opinions, insights would be very welcome.

Can't really go wrong for $38. But,sorry, know nothing about the rod.

Larry: You raise a very good point!
Well, in spite of the 2+ feet of snow still in our yard, I put a 3 wt line on it yesterday and did some casting in the yard. (we're still at least a month from open water). Into a mild headwind, it had no trouble casting 60+ feet. The stream I live on is 20 to 40 feet wide, so I think this will work out fine. (They had a 6.5 foot version there as well, but I thought the extra 6" wouldn't go astray).
