Thanks guys! I'll cut the DT2F in two and have a spare, just in case. I was wondering, if I use 20lb backing instead of 12lb backing would I save a little weight? Since 20lb backing is larger in diameter than 12lb, there would be larger "gaps" between the winds. It would take less line to fill the spool which should equal less weight? I am off on that idea? I'm excited to try this new outfit. This will be my first "shootout recommended" rod. I have a couple of TFO Pros in a 8' 2wt and a 7'6" 3 wt. Since the 8' 2wt TFO Pro wasn't even mentioned in the shootout's summary I'm taking it that the Echo Carbon should be a much, much better rod. Steve

Steve, the TFO Pro and the Echo are rather different. The Echo has a more refined taper, and is way smoother casting. It has more feel as well. The TFO is however very functional. I'd take the Echo personally.
