Hi all I wonder if any of you gents have tried any of these rods because I keep changing my mind. The Orvis Ultrafine, Sage Circa 279 or Douglas Upstream 802. All 3 will be difficult to test cast and to be honest over in the UK all 3 are difficult to find. To be honest the Ultrafine was my original and sensible choice as my two favourite rods are/were my current 6’ 6” 1oz and my old 7’ 6” #1 which I snapped, I also own a Far & Fine which I haven’t got on with yet but some more back garden practice may be required before I make the call on that rod. But the circa and the Douglas are stunning looking rods with fantastic reviews.
Any guidance or opinions much appreciated,
Regards,
Chris.

Hi Chris I have two Orvis ultra fine 2 weights. I have the original with the unsanded snake belly finish and the later sanded model with the burgundy finish. IMHO the latter is the nicer casting rod as l feel they tweaked the design slightly but both true two weights. If l wanted a true two weight l would certainly want to cast the circa before l bought one just to be sure. Hope this helps. Best Fishes Michael

A Circa or few are on my bucket list. I've cast the Orvis, it was quite nice but didn't strike me as nearly as accurate. No experience with the Douglas

Cheers gents,
I’ve got some more pondering to do I think, maybe even seeing if someone over this side of the pond fancies a swap, Ultrafine for my Far & Fine which I’m not immediately getting on with. I’ll have to do a few more back garden lawn tests before I make that decision though.
Thanks again,
Chris.
