I snagged a Ross Cimarron 1 reel from Sierra last week, using a combination of discounts to eventually end up paying $71 + shipping. I had fished with a Ross Gunnison on my first 4 wt and loved it, and was excited for the Cimarron, which is a highly rated great looking reel.
I bought it specifically to take a place of reel on my 2 wt Sage, and wanted something 4 oz or less--preferrably less. The Cimarron 1 was listed at 4.0 oz in the spec sheet online which was the high end of my range, but for the price I thought I'd risk it.
Unfortunately the published weight is not correct. I'd like to say that I felt the extra weight right out of the box, but I didn't. I played with the reel for a few minutes and then stuck it on my digital scales. 4.5oz. Not a *huge* descrepancy but quite a bit more than I was willing to deal with, and I don't have another rod right now that needs a reel that size, so it's on its way back to Sierra today. And I have a Lamson Velocity 1 arriving tomorrow. This reel is also listed as 4oz, and I got a killer deal on it too, so I hope this one is closer to is listed weight. If it doesn't work out I might just get another Orvis LA I or BBS I.
I'll report back.

Your Lamson will be nice and close to that 4.0 mark!

There is still a Lamson Velocity 1 from the same eBay seller, although the PayPal cashback thing has dropped from 30% to 20%. PM me if you want the link. Jerry

Thought about listing it for sale here, but figured at 4.5 oz it wasn't UL ;-) Just kidding... it seemed like getting a refund was the easiest way to get my money back out of it. Keep your eye on Sierra's site... it'll probably be back up there in a week or two. Sorry!

My UPS buddy just dropped off the Lamson Velocity 1. Advertised at 4.0 ounces. Actual weight on my digital scales--3.8 ounces!
This thing is nice!
I'll post a review once I get some line on it and get over to the pond.

Okay, everything Andy has said about the Lamson Velocity is true. Amazing reel. I just spent a few hours on the water with it, and am very very happy. Review to com.

I got it on eBay a few days ago when they were doing the Microsoft Live 30% cashback on Buy-it-Now's paid using PayPal. The seller is fishwest. I think the original price was $165 or so, subtract the 30% and it comes out to around $115--free shipping. I'm hoping the cashback thing goes back up to 30% again so I can get a spare spool :-) You might be able to find a comparable deal out there--I see a lot of these on sale all over.

MRFC has them for $128 plus shipping. That is one of the best values out there for UL reels!
