Hi Richard,
I have two different 1 wt lines--a Quiet Taper WF1F and a Wonderline WF1F, and the Wonderline appears to be a little heavier than the Quiet Taper--I can sure feel the rod load better, to the point that it's a feels a little slow. It's much easier to cast though, than the Quiet Taper. I'll try my 2 wt Cortland 444SL on it and see how it does--could be interesting. BTW, I love the Quiet Taper DT0F on my 0 wt--it feels perfect for that rod.

Richard, what is the flex characteristic of your one weight Orvis? The newer ones are a 5.5 Full Flex, but I believe the older ones were a 4.0-4.5 Full Flex, right? Jerry, have you tried a DT1F on that rod? You might be on the right track trying some different lines on it. If you can find a TT1F lying in a bargain bin somewhere, grab that, as in my experience, the TT lines are heavier than a standard WF line. I would love to find a TT0F line and a TT1F.

I haven't tried a DT1F on the Orvis 1 wt yet. I tried to get a DT instead of a WF when I bought the rod but they didn't have any in stock. If I come across a cheap one I'll give it a shot, but it casts so nicely with the WF Wonderline on it that I'm really quite happy as it is.

Hi Andy, Well mine is a relatively older model, so perhaps thats part of the problem, they didn't even bother to state the flex on the early rods. My shorty Orvis 2wt is a full flex 5.5 and is right on the money as to line weight. On the longer older 1wt it just wont load properly with less than a 2wt line. I agree, my TT 2wt Intermediate is fantastic on the old 1wt. Richard

The Wulff lines are rather heavy and I like that for my style of casting.
