I have a Kettle Creek 7'6" 3/4 wt blank on the way that will complete my trifecta of ultra-light rods including a Sage 1wt SPL/Ross San Miguel combo and this 5' 10" 3wt bamboo rod that I built last winter and have since aquired a 3" Young Exchequer for.

**** Doug, that rod is gorgeous! We cannot say no to perfect craftsmanship like that! Boo works as ultralight material as well, so being it on!

Doug that rod is a beaut! I would like to encourage others to post their rods no matter what the material, be it graphite, glass, bamboo, boron, whatever.

Just a note here, I myself am quite intrigued by UL boo rods. I'd like to get my hands on a 2wt or 3wt bamboo blank and build up a rod. I just can't afford something like that right now or in the foreseeable future.

Jeremy:
I have less than $100 dollars in that blank. It was made from leftover pieces a local fly shop owner had purchased from a maker who supplied blanks to Thomas&Thomas. The blanks I bought were ferruled and had the cork installed. I glued up the reel seat and hardware and then wrapped the guides and tipped the wraps with silk thread that my Grandfather left me. That silk is 60+ years old and still as strong as the day it was made. I built two of these blanks and put my Grandson's names on them so I could always take them fishing. They both fish better than some of the high dollar rods that I have had the opportunity cast. There are bargains out there, patience is the key.

Doug, if you can offer insight as to where to find some affordable 2/3wt cane blanks, there are many of us who would be interested!

Yes I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for bargains. It can be discouraging though since even the imported Chinese boo blanks aren't all that cheap either.

That was my first thought Jeremy...I would love a 6' 2wt cane rod...but I cannot afford the high as heck prices they command.

I have 2 Tony Spezio 2nds, 6'6, 2 tip bamboo blanks I would sell. $150 each. Is there a mailbox on this site, I can give you the exact details off-board. I shortened my blank to 5'6". About a 1 weight. Don

Don, until I land a better paying job (I had to take a temp job recently), $150 is still out of my price range. Image

There are many reasonably price Pre-owned Cane rods for sale on the net. I do business with a fine gentlemen in the Mid-West Jim Bresko on his Coldwater collectibles web site. I have purchased a few Ultra Light rods from him and they are just beautiful little rods and not super expensive. Purchased a Jeff Fultz 6'0 two piece rated for a 3 weight line and a Winston Binney Midge 6'3. Got my eyes and ears open for a 4'9 rod, one will become available, just gotta be patient and keep checking his and other web sites ... Paul
