Hey guys.....Still searching for that special fly rod....I want a 4 pc 2wt fly rod at least 7'6" long and don't want to spend more than $200. This rod absolutely must be a slow action fuller flex. I would appreciate some help.....Any of you ultralight buff rod makers have any ideas....Come on Pearow help me......Ron

The LST is a 2pc. I would look at the St. Croix Avid 7.5' 2wt. It sells for $230 at Cabela's and is a 4pc rod, or to stay in your range, look at the TFO Finesse 7'3" 2wt 4pc.

Sorry, I missed the 4pc part. I'm still mourning over a broken rod and a dead pet fish.

I'm really considering the st. croix avid 7'6" 2wt 4 pc. fly rod. It is listed as a moderate-fast fly rod. This might be a little stiff, however I would welcome anyone chiming in here and telling me it is more on the medium side than fast. I really would hate to purchase another fast action fly rod and it ends up just collecting dust.

That rod is really limber. If you line it with a heavy 2wt line, you have your medium rod. I like the Wulff TT 2wt lines, and you could also grab a GPX.

its like looking for hen's teeth; I would try to call dan craft; he may not have it but if it exists he'll probably know about it; a multi-piece 2 weight is hard to find except in the 6'6" length. The connecting ferrules almost eliminate the possibility of it being a true 2; even 3 weights are hard to find in the multipiece configeration.

Disagree P. Dan's blanks are engineered to stay flexible even with those extra joints. Some of the thinnest ferrules I have seen. However, nothing beats CCS for a true measure. Check the data base for actual numbers. Don

Hey Perow...The Dan Craft fly rods are very popular among us ultralighters. However, doesn't he only sell blanks? I really need a finished fly rod. Man this Avid 2wt sure sounds pretty sweet. I Just have to decide if it will be slow enough for my taste. Andy calls it a limber rod and it very well might be. A limber fly rod to me is the Dorber 7-1/2' ultraweave 2wt. If they made it in a 4 pc I would scoff it up in a hearbeat. Nevertheless, it's looking more and more like I'll have to take a chance with the Avid.....I love this forum....You younguns are an inspiration to this older feller.

I don't think I'd call the Avid limber, it's more of a mid-flex.

My Orvis 2wt 8'2" is rated by the Orvis system as a 7.0 midflex and accurately so. It cast 2DT well but has a lot of power in the butt, but bends oh so sweetly with a fish on. and although I cannot ID the wood, I am very fond of the seat:

That wood insert looks a lot like the inserts on the T3 freshwater rods they are making now!
