I have a bamboo rod that the builder called a 2 wt, but it is a 4 wt. for certain.

I'd love to try one, and I have an open invitation with Don to come up his way and fish. he might have one there too.

Do you build Skiltonian? I bought three 1 weight seconds from Tony Spezio and would certainly sell you one. I finished mine out as a 5' 6", but may leave the next build at 6'0. I fish a Sage WF1F on mine. This blank can be built out as a 0 weight, but I shortened it. Don

Rock. It is hard to find a 2 weight bamboo. Folks think if it is short and has a delicate tip it must be a 2 weight. Not so. A 2 weight is pushing the envelope for a hex built bamboo rod. 1 weights are really, really, rare. Don

I am going to attempt to build a bamboo 1 wt. I really like the challenge. If you are interested you will be first on the list if the rod turns out and you like it.

I started the 1 wt bamboo today. Here is the plan. It is a "Frankenstein Rod", meaning all the bamboo was from the scrap pile or the pile of extra pieces that were meant for other rods. The color of the rod will be blonde, light mottle, and dark mottle with gold nodes. In other words it is random. It will have one tip, I usually build two but since it is a willy nilly kind of rod it will only have one tip. I am building the rod for the members of this board. I would love it if people would e mail me their ideas or comments. Please send private messages to my private e mail, pacchef23@hotmail.com. When the rod is done we will pass it around for all to fish. The only cost to the members will be postage between each other of the rod. That being said, if anyone has components they are willing to donate I would love to accommodate if they fit the rod. I won't accept donations of money. After interested members have fished the rod if anyone wants to buy it I will sell it at a very reasonable price. If nobody wants it I will donate it to a fish friendly organization so they can raffle it.

Sorry about that, 5'. Not sure about the name of the rod or components yet. Once again, any suggestions are welcome. Also, if anyone has a special little creek they want to name it after I would also take that into consideration.

That is amazing. Put me on the list please. I would definitely give it a run through, and if we like it, you can build one for us to buy as well, right?

Well right now I don't have any smaller scale components, all I have on hand is larger screw lock seats. Sorry I can't help you out there. As for a name, I'll submit Deer Creek, that's the stream that boarders my back yard, and my main play ground. Maybe you should start a new thread just for this rod, Maybe in the rod building forum. Oh yeah, I want to be on the list to fish this rod when it's finished too. Thanks, J.

I can also say Deer Creek, and Les can probably also say Deer Creek as all three of us have a Deer Creek near our places that we fish.

Thank you for the comments, I rough planed and heat treated the sections today. I will finish plane them next week when the humidity is back in the bamboo. I think "Deer Creek" is going to be the ticket, and I am possibly going to put a deer antler reel seat on the finished rod.
