Over lunch I stopped by a local pond to see how my 7 1/2 foot Eastbranch 2 weight would cast with a Airflo DT3 Ridgeline. Eureka! Finally got the thing to cast as intended. Mind you, I carried and fished the rig in Montana with a mismatched DT2, but live and learn. My advice is NEVER ASSUME THE ROD ACTUALLY CASTS THE DESIGNATED LINE WEIGHT. This is totally old news, but I sometimes need a reminder. Don

Don's got an Eastbranch, cool. I have an Eastbranch catalog in my files somewhere. I was interested in them at one point but never bought one. Too bad they went out of business.

I have one of the Japanese tangerine colored ones before they really hit the American market. The Ridgeline is faster through the guides than most lines and feels faster in the air, but this may be a consequence of the better loading. The only downside is that I think the ridges hold a little moisture that pops off on the forecast, the ban of dry fly fishing. But it is certainly supple and one of my favorites. It is a problem solver as well. I have 3 finicky rods and they all have Ridgelines on them. Don

Thats strange everyone has a different opinion & feel on the performance of various lines. I find it comes off the water on the pickup cleaner and drier & faster through the guides than any line I have ever used. I recently put a WF7F nymph Airflo on one of my cane rods, tremendous effortless casting line . ......Paul

I won't disagree, but I do not false cast much and tend to notice spray on the turnover. The worst are braided leaders. Don
