David, I agree that the Hardy CC & DD reels are very well made and if I were in the market for a LA reel, I'd probably get a CC. Did you notice the "H" as part of the design of the inside of the spool? Pretty clever, I thought.
BKill, absolutely right. The early CFO's are amazing reels. I used to use a CFO III with a cork arbor and a little backing for my 2 & 3 wts.

Here are my new Hardy Ultralite CC 2000 reels. These new reels from Hardy add another option for those who enjoy click-pawl style reels. I wrote a seperate review of this reel with many added photos so please visit the link below. viewtopic.php?p=47671#p47671Randy

Great pics! Thanks I was wondering about the silver finish on the new Hardy cc's? Wouldnt that cause reel flash and scare fish away? I kno some guys sand their rods down...

My favorite would be an Abel Creek 1. Narrow profile with a slightly larger radius. Tiny reels make me feel like a rat on an exercise wheel. An inexpensive honorable mention is the new LL Bean Pocket Water. You can buy 4 of them for the cost of one Hardy or Abel and not cry when you put your first ding in it.

Danielsson (Loop) Traditional Midge (0-2) and Nymph W (3-4) best UL reels on the market in my opinion.
