Here is another one of my favorite flies. Don't know the name of it as I tied it just messing around trying to imitate small black flies back in Michigan. It's tied on a size 18 or 20 sometimes 22 Caddis hook. It's black thread, peacock herl and cdc. The trout sure love it.Image

I don't know exactly which "black flies" you're referring to, but that fly looks to me like a representation of the small mayflies known as Tricos or "white-winged blacks". They come off after the Hex hatches on similar waters, and yes, the trout love them. That hatch makes for some prime UL fly fishing.

The ones I'm referring to are more like a gnat. I know what tricks are but these aren't them. The pattern would probably work as a trico though.

Is that white CDC? What is the tail made of? Have you tied or fished the "CDC One Feather"?

The white is two CDC feathers tied in facing forward then Fran back at the end. The tail is just a few peices of grizzly hackle that were left over from other flies.

Is it like a kind of emerger ? CDC will stay in the water film and the body and tail will stay under water ?

This fly must be very effective

It rides a lot like an emerged and the trout like it when they're being picky.
