If you don't normally get the Fly-Fisherman magazine you might want to pick up the Feb-Mar issue. It has an excellent article on Fly Tying Thread. It explains the different sizing schemes used by the major suppliers. I have been tying since the late 70s and it answered a lot of questions I had on why different threads behaved differently when tying.
