Mini mops. Was just there this morning and they've added new colors. These are about a half inch long.

Despite having tied quite a few mop flies over a year ago, I only started fishing them recently and boy do they perform (at least w. warm water species).

I tied some a while back, gave them a try and never had any luck. It was early season and I don't think the fish were really biting well, but I was disappointed after all the hype! Also once they get wet they feel like you're trying to cast half a chicken on a 0wt, no fun!

I used Walmart supplies too, these, around 1.25" long:

Ika, I can't imagine casting mop flies on a 0 wt, especially with a 5/32 tungsten bead, like many of mine have.

Like you, I initially had little luck so stopped using them but this year I tried again and they catch like crazy on lakes.

The nearest fly shop is at least 80 miles away, but fortunately there is always WalMart and Hobby Lobby. I have been known to spend an hour or more just cruising up and down the aisles at Hobby Lobby looking for materials that might possibly has a use in tying flies.
