Lately, I have been working on a flashy small version of a yellow sally stone nymph for winter dredging here in the southeast. While small black stones are more prolific the yellow versions seem to attract more attention. With the extra weight, this is a great lead fly in a 2 fly set up.
Image

Hook: Curved Shank, Scud hook, 16 and 18 several turns of lead for weight.
Thread: Black, Gold bead optional.

Legs: Barred Rubber Legs.
Body: Crystal flash yellow/orange dubbing. Yellow hobby plastic ribbon

Shell back- Yellow died duck wing.
Tail: 2 Yellow goose biots
Antennae
: 2 Yellow goose biots

What do you guys use to attract sluggish winter fish?

Corey, that fly looks great, not just for trout, but gills and redear as well!

In the winter, for gills, you can use a #22 Brassie on a warm afternoon at the junction of a creek arm and the main channel of the lake for midging gills.
