Right now, I have several different patterns in my box for warmwater. I currently have some Jitterbees in black/chartreuse and black/red, some #12 Cat's Whiskers in black, brown, olive, and white, several woolly worms in various colors, some Golden Boys (a gold krystal flash jig with red thread), some #10 bugger variants with burnt orange tails and peacock green crystal chenille body, and with a chartreuse tail, and some #8 woolly worm variants with a peacock green cc body, grizzly hackle, and a rainbow flashabou tail. These flies cover most of my warmwater fly fishing and it really helps me to have so few flies to toss that I focus more on presentation than on changing flies.

After much experimentation I find that a simple elk hair caddis variant works well in about a #14. I use different colored silk thread for the body soft hackle style, put a drop of varnish on the silk, and then tie in the elk hair at the thorax. I spin a little more hair ahead of that and trim it muddler style. I find that I can grasp the head with my forceps to release the fly without tearing it up as much as with a standard elk hair caddis. I don't use a palmered hackle either. I find that gills and trout both like the pattern and take it on top or wet. The only trick in tying is not to pop the silk thread when spinning the hair. Don

My fly box is basically empty right now. I need to start tying now so I can have my boxes full come spring.

I use allot of beadhead flies this time of year for gills an trouts, I like peacock body patterns like Zug Bugs and Prince Nymphs as they seem to do well. Need to get cracking on some more stoneflies for winter.

My arsenal includes No. 10 poppers (chartreuse), my Myakka Minnow, Aunt Sara's Homely Daughter Nymph and my FLY (Fuzzy Leach Yarn) Nymph. Usually all I need.

I call it a pine squirrel leach. Same as a bunny leach but with pine squirrel. Easiest fly ever. Tie in a pine squirrel zonker strip at the hook bend and wrap it forward. I use dumbell eyes for weight, but lately I've been tying them on the smallest weight micro jigs. I want some mink zonkers so I can tie them in 14's and 16's for droppers. They catch fish!

Mine's a mess- I'd be too embarrassed to show it off against these in the previous posts.

I need to tie some of them in a #12 for bluegill. I have plenty of zonkers, I just need to tie some darn flies.
