Been working on a spun deer hair mice the past week. Wanted something to use on my 1wt for monster sized gills that frequent a secret Southern Ohio pond. Started doing them the size of a quarter and decided to see how small they can go before getting difficult to spin. Doesnt spin well thats for sure so changed the way to lay the hair on.

This one is a small as my index fingernail or size of a dime. Weedless to boot.

I have NEVER been any good at "spinning" dear hair......I would love to see a Step X Step on the last one pictured......
.............. (if not spun, I would like to give that one a try) I believe the Green Sunfish would fight over it.

Ok here is the material list;
hook - Gamakatsu SC15 #4 They are lightweight hook with a wide gap.
Weedguard- Mono tippet .015" Rio Powerflex
Tail- Musky size silicone legs
Body- Deer hair, Layered and then bring the hair down and back and wrap an couple hitches. Do this to 2/3 of way on shank taper from back to front.
Ears- .5mm Razor foam folded
Nose - Spun hair with tip and ends clipped. You want the middle section.
Thread- Danville 6/0 black
Eyes- burn eye socket with cauterizing tool and use fine tip of black marker and hold it in the socket to desired look. I have tried epoxy, CCG and mono but the mice is to small so profile shape is the key so I am not that worried having big ole eyes like my larger pattern.;)

Trim bottom of fly to clear hook gap and to have more room to tie on weedguard. I take mono thru hook eye and wrap thread around and tie off. cut momo as close to eye and use cauterizing tool to burn mono taking care not to touch thread.
Finish trimming.

I will sell a few each at $6.00 plus what it cost to mail if needs to be but only until March.

Afterall I have another idea that I hadn't put into making these mini mice using a dry hackles or CDC or both yet. Stay tuned as it gonna be a lousy weekend up here in Ohio so I will be on the bench for a few hours. :)
