I left just as the daylight started. As I traveled to my destination, I realized I'd be under those great big flashing clouds on the horizon. The other direction was where I'd have to fish. My canal was in that direction, but, due to the never ending rains, it has been pretty high. I saw a spot where a feeder creek had created a little sand bar, which in turn created an eddy. "Maybe they're sitting there, comfortably out of the current?", I wondered.
Sometimes it seems like I know what I'm doing.
They were there. And they kept the Proof 2wt bent!
About a dozen of these
In between, my rod doubled over and this happened.
Moved up a little and found the bass. This is a rare golden olive species, not common to anywhere other than this spot, and never documented until this morning...
Dirty water. This is a brand new Stripee
Moved to another canal, and the cichlids were very happy. Easily caught over a dozen!
And a surprise snook. Hooked two here.
Tilapia here, too!
The rain has finally made it here. I'm pretty sure that had something to do with the success of today's outing.
But what do I know?!
