Nice video Why do you hold the rod upside down? I've been fly fishing 50 years and I've never seen anybody do that or heard of it

Take a look at the second video.
It is an ultra light 3 wt bamboo rod that would take a set if you just put the wood to it. It alternates the stress.

Thanks for posting! I made my wife sit down and watch one of your videos yesterday -- we could both tell how much fun you were having (and how accomplished you are). Look forward to more!

Nice videos. I never knew that about bamboo rods (getting a set from playing larger fish). Always good to learn new things. brent

A set can be removed by heating with a painter's heat gun but you always run the risk of breaking the tip in the process or overheating and ruining a rod.
It is best avoided in the first place.

Enjoyed the videos greatly. Personally I don't ever want to cast a bamboo rod. Not because there's anything wrong with them, just don't want to risk falling in love with something I can't afford. LOL

It depends on your situation. Never say never.
There was a time when I had two kids at a time in college for six straight years, and I would get those magazines in the mail and think it would never happen for me.
It happened, and the down side is that now, I am old.
Don't ever lose sight of your goals.
Also, I did some homework and got these rods for next to nothing on the Internet.
Take advantage of the times.
