Between day job work and book-writing work, I've been neglecting the boys. We have a new agreement: two adventures of their choosing each month, solo with Dad.

Aidan, 5, wanted to tie a fly and go fishing and exploring.

Conor, 7, opted for a hike and photo safari, but let's bring the fly rods just in case ....

I'm privileged to have youngsters who actually want to spend time with me. Need to remember that ... off to the Lampasas by myself now, report to follow.

In a few years they will be fishing right along side and encouraging their Dad to go fishing.

This is a great way to get kids into fishing. Taking them to a stream so they can play in between fishing is a good idea.
