It started off slowly. Might have been an hour before I hooked the first bluegill.

I changed venues. The bluegill were cooperative. The bass weren't.

A little tilapia

The biggest bluegill of the trip came later

Then, the unthinkable happened. I snagged the fallen branch I had been fishing. Because I use light wire hooks, I can easily retrieve the fly by pointing the rod tip at it and stretching the line. The hook came free, sending fifty feet of line back at me at close to 100 mph. No biggie. Strip the line in and get back at it.

I wasn't paying attention. The line was wrapped around the tip.

Big gills but the broken tip’s a bummer. Warranty?

Which rod? What are you planning on replacing it with?

Good news is there is a replacement tip available.

I can't say enough about Proof fly fishing. Excellent service.

Chunky fish!

Glad Proof has your back on the rod tip. Knock on wood - Never broken one while fishing, just through car doors or leaving an uncased rod on the srat in a car.

One of tgh reasons I have gravitated to glass besides the smooth actions is the durability of glass vs carbon. Tad more resistant to angler induced breakage.

Well, at least you only did one at a time. Bill Dance has kind of raised this to an art form:

Yeah, but when Bill breaks something, it was something provided by the sponsor. The only thing he lost was some dignity (which seems pretty valuable at the time).

Haha. Good point, Larry.
...and bonus points for using the word 'dignity' and 'Bill Dance' in the same sentence.

When my granddaughters visit, they always want to sit in the big chair with me and watch all the Bill Dance blooper reels on YouTube. Uncontrollable laughter. Its so great to hear.
