It's on the heavy side for UL flyrods but I took my Orvis superfine 9' 3wt up to the Pit last weekend. I only fished about a quarter mile section of the river from early am to mid afternoon. The bite historically starts slowing down on the Pit around 11 and gets really tough by 1 or so, Saturday was no exception.

The vast majority of the fish were the typical Pit 14-16 inch wild rainbow with a couple of dinks and toads thrown into the mix. Even the smaller fish put on a great show with the 3wt and I did have to chase a few fish downstream. Roughly 60 grabs with half or so landed from 10-20 inches. I've got a short blurry video attempting to slowly upload

If any of you are in California or head out this way with fish on the brain, treat yourself to the Pit.

Not sure how I managed to upload the non edited version. Blurry camera and a typical Pit river rainbow.

Looks like the river was running high. Thanks for sharing the video.

That was the Pit 3 section. Basically the entire river is a tailwater broken up into different sections based on powerhouse locations. Flows in the Pit 3 section are pretty stable and were flowing at roughly 340 cfs. Very wadeable for us tall folks. I'm heading back up Friday. 528 miles round trip.
