Scouted a nearly 5-mile wade on the Lampasas today. Shoulda left the house earlier -- turns out we ran short on time and had to really hustle through the last mile and a half or so. Guess I'll have to go back soon. Darn.
Amazing piece of water, though. Clear and slow, huge variety of species. I couldn't get the carp, freshwater drum (gaspergou), channel cats, or spotted gar to eat -- I'm happy to hear tips, btw -- but we did okay on bass (including some Gaudalupe bass) and sunfish. Oh, and the surprise of the day -- two white bass. This reach is nowhere near the downstream reservoir, and it's November not March, so I really wasn't expecting to see them.
Echo Carbon XL 2 wt, mouse, Brushy Creek streamers, and some crawfishy fly ... I forget the name.
Cold front blowing in tomorrow dropping lows into the 30s and 40s. Might have been the last wet wade for a while!
