Spent some quality time studying Brushy Creek earlier this week, and saw two hatches come off -- a tiny BWO hatch (actually I've been seeing a lot of these), and just before dusk a caddis hatch -- white millers, it looked like. I'm no streamside entomol --- whatever that word is. Anyway, I saw lots of fish rising to the bugs, and at first I just assumed they were longear or redbreast sunfish, or bluegills, but when I tossed a mouse into the mix, I caught half a dozen of these little Guadalupe bass. Pretty sure that's what was sipping the caddis (emergers, I think) as well.
Anyway, figure maybe a gray and white soft hackle next time ....
