Can't believe I didn't get my first fish of 2018 til the third week of Jan.

Late trip down to the Guadalupe today.

Started the day with this nice hen on a black wooly bugger and Echo Carbon XL 3wt.

And ended the day with her, too. Lost one other good fish, bit it was a tad slow. My cousin, a philistine, caught this bright 'bow on his CGR 4wt.

Warm(ish) water trip planned for Saturday.

Nice rainbows. Good to see you guys down in Texas are having some decent weather. It's all frozen up here.

Way to go, Aaron. Our weather up in Oklahoma hasn't been too bad. I've been out 2-3 times since the first of the year, but no fish to show for it. One of the guys I've been fishing with says I must be a jinx, because we've been out together 3 times and he hasn't caught a trout. I reminded him that I'm with him and I haven't caught one either. Blue River is about 30 miles from my home and we have had abysmal luck there over the past 3 months. I've actually only had one hit in all that time and it got off. A few minutes later I fell in the river and scared a really large trout. Since then on most subsequent trips we haven't even seen any trout. Tuesday we hiked up and down the river about 3.5 miles and nobody got a nibble or even saw a fish. Then we hear from other people that they have been really killing them. Maybe we are jinxes. I used to catch a lot of trout from Blue River, but it seems to have my number now. As regards trout fishing, I might as well take up knitting.
