Raining again today, but with a short break of only light rain shown on the weather radar I decided to head to the local lake.
Strung the 2wt (9'0" Echo Dry) and went to a treetop where I often catch crappie. Tied on a #12 black ant and soon had a couple bluegill. Not long before I got a crappie. The rain was getting harder by then, so I decided I had had all the fun I could stand for one day. :lol

Well, at least the day wasn't a complete bust. My grandkids will be coming in this weekend for Easter and I had hoped to take the older boys fishing, but we have been drenched with rain the last couple of days. I'm afraid all the creeks and ponds will be pretty muddy through the rest of the week.

:lol Three things, one , all I catch in tree tops is leaves and twigs and they steal my fly,s. Secondly if I was having so much fun the only thing that would chase me off is heavy rain :). Thirdly thankyou for making me envious and jealous. You certainly know your pond and where to find the fish. Thank you for posting.

"Treetop???"

Submerged tree. Crappie and other fish tend to hang out around these because baitfish tend to congregate there. Also a good way to sight cast to squirrels with an acorn fly. ;)

Our local lake had beavers that were killing & felling trees around the lake a few years ago. If the tree fell on land the park employees cut them up and removed them, but the ones that fell in the water were left there.
Several of those fallen trees are real fishing hotspots now!
They also are being constantly decorated with floats, lures, and yes, even a few of my flies! :lol

Makes sense. Just wasn’t familiar with the term. All the best fishing spots are also the snaggiest.
