"When are we going fishing again, Jimbo?"

We all agreed to meet up after work this morning at the canal. Someone else was bringing worms for him to use. I brought the spinning rod for him, with intentions of letting him keep it.

He never showed.

I packed a few poppers and wasn't long before

A couple more bass, a bluegill. The other guy shows up.

I switch to a mouse from a fly swap I hosted here. The same fly I broke off then somehow snagged a few months later, along with the leader, and twenty feet of line still attached.

The wind picked up considerably, forcing me to turn and shoot on the backcast.

I sent the fly into a downed branch on the opposite bank. It wouldn't come free. Point the rod tip to the fly, pull straight back, and watch in amazement as the tapered part of the fly line separates and coils up on the opposite bank, right above the log.

I tied a perfection loop in the end of the line, but, it was a bit tough to cast with the wind and all. So, I opted to hang out and watch the other guy's bobber. He jumped a bass, and missed some other hits.

Beautiful day, regardless of the outcome!

Nice report, sorry the fun stopped with the broken line, must have been a weak spot or damage in the core. The core should have a 30lb breaking strain.

TWO lines broke! That's how I lost the fly twice! It's a jinx. Both times I was using ten lb tippet.

Well, that's a first for me. Never imagined that could happen. Do you have any idea what might have weakened the fly line that much? Raspy guide? Something on the reel/spool?
