Wind made it impossible to reach the bigger ones that were rolling and limited the target area to a very small section of the mangrove. The tilapia were "stolen" as the fly grabbed them by their sides. Got another smaller Tarpon but, messed up the picture. Need to go again... Sent from my LG-H700 using Tapatalk

Lucky fish, you are so spoilt with all those fish hanging around to be caught and on a 1 wgt at that. Love all three, well done must have been a blast, the second picture is so typical of a tilapia.

It was fun. I jumped two additional ones.
I was hopping to land a much bigger Tarpon but the wind picked up. It was maddening to see the big ones roll within reach if there was no wind and not being able to shoot at them.
Lesson learned, do not go unless the forecast says less than 5 mph winds.

You might try a shooting head with 15 lb Amnesia shooting line to gain that distance and defeat the wind.

Will check on that.
Tried shooting my 4wt too... Impossible to do either with those wind surges around 15 mph. Once the 2/0 hook got the back of my shirt... I knew it was stupid to try to keep trying to beat the wind.

Skagit style casting is made for heavy fly's. If you get the rad weight right it should be better. I have a head weight of 130gr on my CGR 2 weight. No false casting.

Oh, this is something new to me. Definitely need to research it.
On the 1wt I use size 1 gamakatsu fly that is very light. Seaducer or Congo hair mullet.

It looks like you're really getting your money's worth out of that Maxcatch outfit!

You bet I am!
Bang for the buck, it has been the best investment.
I'm seriously considering selling my professional series TFO rods...

Nice result with the Tarpon. Even the one pictured looks like a big fish for a 1 wt, but bigger ones are possible! Those talapia look sort of shaped like a blue gill; bet they pull pretty hard too.

They do pull hard! I'll throw some clousers next time specifically to target them.

Sent from my LG-H700 using Tapatalk My TFO 2 weight 8' Professional is my go to rod that will cast 60 plus feet of line and has landed 4lb LMB with no sweat. I hope you don't give up on a tremendous rod in my opinion.

I have that exact same rod. I also have it in 4wt. Was thinking about selling the 4wt and getting a 3wt Maxcatch. Depending on the performance of the MC 3wt, I may let the 2wt go too.
I also have a 6wt TiCrX, that one I'll keep. I can throw the whole line on that one.

Considering what you have been catching on your 1 weight, what do you target with the 6 weight TFO? Great whites perhaps? Maybe orcas?

Hahaha
I use the 6wt when I'm fishing from the shore blind casting so I can cover a larger area. Specially if there are 1 to 2 feet waves, the 6wt allows me to make a very long cast. In those situations I get mostly ladyfish and jacks.
I also use it the lake if I'm not getting bites on the 1wt and I need to go farther to catch peacock bass.
All that said, I rarely use my 6wt.
