Went fishing to my wife favorite spot. In there we usually find baby tarpon, snooks, jaguar cichlids and tilapia.

My wife uses a 2wt Maxcatch rod (obviously pink).

I was able to land 3 tilapia. She beat me with 3 tarpon and 1 jaguar cichlid. See some pics below. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

The best rod you can get even if you spend 100 on one.

Very good. Baby Tarpon but bigger than most fish I catch! Thanks for the tip on the rods.

You're welcome. Mine has stopped 5 bonefish... This rod will last forever in your case.

My man, I gotta tell ya. Truly, you are an inspiration with that little 1 wt!!! The fish that you are catching on that diminutive wee rod of yours, using your $12 fly line, is verily a wonderment!

Are you fishing off the beach, or in canals, or tidal creeks, or where exactly are you using that thing? I would think the 6' length would be an incredible handicap.

I've got a Maxcatch 3 wt fiberglass in 7' that I haven't broken out yet, and I'm contemplating whether to try it or get and try your little 1 wt.

To borrow from our Russian comrades, if there was a medal on this board for Hero of the Ultralight Flyfishing Forum, you would surely be getting one!

Edit: Screw it. I just pulled the trigger and ordered the 1 wt and that Sword 2 reel. The line for it I'll have to think about.

Thanks! I'm fishing it everywhere. The fish on this thread were caught in canals but, I've captured Tarpon in the big swamp that feeds this canal system.

This area is natural Reserve for migratory and local birds. The Natural Resources Department controls the water level in the ponds, lakes canals by pumping sea water in or out as needed.

I want to land a big (around 15 pound) baby tarpon with the little rod but, no luck getting the big ones to bite with this setup yet. It's just a matter of time. Hopefully I can do it before the hunting season begins the first week of November and the reserve is closed off to everyone but hunters.
