My love affair with Maxcatch gear continues. I recently ordered 3 new complete setups and sold almost all my non Maxcatch gear.

Among these new setups is a v-feather 3wt. Today I had a chance to put it to the test. It worked beautifully.

The jack ran so hard I had to use the reel to get him in. Great fight!

All of these were captured with a size 6 white and tan shrimp I made for bonefish a week ago.

Nice pictures, fish and gear. Good to hear about Max-Catch. I imagine a Jack on a fly rod would be like
catching a blue gill on steroids. Enjoyed seeing the fish you catch as always and your equipment; keep us updated.

I've never captured a blue gill but, to fight a jack is only second to fighting a bonefish. They are fast and very aggressive once you set that hook.

A jack on a 3 would be a blast!!!

Nice snook, too! Especially the first pic.

Great catches. Not being familiar with salt water fishing, what kind of distances do you typically have to cast in order to get these fish? Also, is this from boat, kayak or shore?

From she shore, I cast 50 plus feet. Must strikes happen less than 30 feet.

Count me as another Maxcatch fan. I have a Maxcatch Airlite 7.5' 2wt that casts like a dream, and I am very happy with my Maxcatch HVC reel that I use on most of my rods -- as good as top name-brand reels for a quarter the price. And it is light enough that I use the HVC 5/6 on my 0wt and 2wt without issue.

I will say that I have not been too impressed with my Maxcatch floating fly lines -- coating only lasts a few months before they start to crack and won't shoot anymore. The sinking lines on the other hand use a different coating and are durable, slick and work great so I definitely recommend those.

Thanks for the info on Maxcatch, Ika. The only time I've had fly line crack is when one was exposed to repellent (I think that was the cause anyway), and I use the cheapest fly line I can find. Then too, maybe my environment is less harsh.
A, 71/2 ft 2 wt sounds appealing; 7-7.5 ft rods with 3 or less sections are my preference.

Great to know their sinking lines are better. I've had similar experience with their floating lines but, it's expected from a line that's less than 10 dollars.

Nice fish and great gear . I have a bunch of Maxcatch stuff . A 10' 3wt nymph , 10' 2 wt nymph , 6'6" 2wt , 9' 5wt, and a bunch of the cheap reels . There's another company called Anglers Dream I buy from also . I have a 9' 4wt and a 9' 8wt from them . Good stuff also . Then there's some expensive stuff that doesn't fish any better but cost 5 times more . Keep up the good work .

Thanks! I've been selling all my TFO gear. No longer use it much anyway.
