Nice wood in the reel seat. The vintage reel looks right on this rod for some reason.
I think I'll use varnish on my next build. I liked it on a test section of a broken rod.

Its action is very unique, hard to describe, just feels great. In the fiberglass circles, its regarded as one of the very best rods in its segment on the market today. Really looking forward to putting it through its paces this year.

What is that beautiful reel? Thanks, the reel is a vintage JC Higgins I picked up on the big bad auction site. It was brand new in the box still, never fished, and 10 bucks! I cleaned it up, painted the finish you see on it(it was just black) and then coated the whole thing with several coats of automotive clear.

That is a beautiful rod and reel combination. Someday, if you ever want to sell that as a combo, let me know. Nice job!

I like that one- the green stick, and you got the reel right too! This vintage reel and classic looking rod make a good match.

Strange. I contacted Ijuin and they told me the butt section is .42

Les Thanks Les, A lot of time and thinking went into this build to make what I felt was a very visually appealing combo, fortunately the Yomogi fishes just at well as it looks
