Looking for a tapered reamer for building a handle. Where would a guy purchase one of these? I have seen the sand paper strips glued on an old rod section method. Will a rat file work? What do you all use?

Mudhole has them in several different diameters.

That's what I've been using.

I get mine from Anglers Workshop but you can use a rat tail file if the diameter is close to that of the blank you're fitting the grip to. It's especially handy if you can chuck it in a drill and ream a bit more exactly and quickly.

I use an old butt section with self adhesive sand paper cut into 1/2 strips spiraled around it

I use rat tail files, and if I need something a bit larger than my largest rat tail, I've got a square file that I insert and then twist - it's worked on the 5 or 6 rods I've built.
