This is a blank I picked up on ebay . The guy claimed it to be a 2wt s-glass . It's just shy of 6' and 2.3 oz on my scale . Not the lightest but not bad for a glass rod . The action is amazing .

Cool. So you're casting a 2wt on it?

Nice looking rod! I generally have found the UL rod ranges (2wt or less) to be a bit better served by graphite rather than fiberglass -- and I say that as somebody who loves to fish glass! -- but I await your report :)

You must fish for small fish . I have broken 3 - 2wt graphite rods in the last 1 1/2 years . No glass rods yet tho , YMMV . :)

This is the same dealer I bought a 3wt glass rod. That's my next build. Good to hear it casts well.

This and a 3wt graphite are my practice rods before building my Epic kit.

Marks blanks are top notch , every bit as good as some of the expensive brands , lol . I like my 1wt as much or more than my 1wt Superfine .
His blank holds the 0wt line wt at 25+ ib triploid .

Wow! One more incentive to throw it at the local bones.

That's pretty impressive. True most of the fish I catch are pretty small, but I have never broken a rod when it was in my hand. I'm fairly cognizant of rod angle when I apply pressure, however. My friend fell on my 0wt RDP in the boat, smashed the reel face in and broke the reel seat end and cap. The blank flexed heavily but was apparently undamaged. A little JB Weld and I was back in business (probably not the right adhesive but I'm not a rod builder so what do I know). Rods are tough tools, even graphite ones.

I do things with my glass rods that I would never do to my carbon ones. But I guess I feel like in the UL line weights a lot of other advantages of glass over carbon just aren't as meaningful. A crisp carbon 1wt will protect light tippets and flex into the blank regardless of fish size, which are two things I switch to glass for in the higher line weights. But also carbon rods are lighter, longer, more sensitive and can cast further under the same conditions. I've never had an issue with durability, so I see no benefit of glass in these line weights. Just my opinion :)

I owe you all an apology . I was heavily medicated when I posted this . This build is not an RDP blank build and does not hold any record that I know of . Everything else is true and Marks 0wt blank does hold that record I just posted this in the wrong spot . Crap , now I'm confused ….lol
