Another victim of the RDP 5'8" Zero weight. Not the fattest fish but a zippy little 3 pounder that really put 'The Twig' to the test. In terms of ultra light I think this set up takes the cake for almost as small as you can go Surprised how well it actually casts. Fun? Its a dam riot!

Nice!!! I will say it once again : RDP makes a really good rod. Those rods can really handle some big fish.....keep the pics coming

Thanks Joe! Unfortunately our local stream has steep undercut banks, hence the pics on wet grass rather than having the fish in some kind of waters edge scenario. I do make it as quick as possible and if the fish flip flops after first setting up the pic he earns his freedom rather than trying to set up the pic again. So I miss a few photo ops!

Yes, very nice. Feels like my 2 and 3 wts are overpowering the hand size gills I catch after seeing these posts.

Nothing feels too light once you get used to it... Maybe that should be my tag line

Thinking of this rod as my next build. What line are you using on it? Are those short RDP blanks true to weight (or at least close)?
Nice fish!

Yes! it must be a dam riot, and even a riot once you get away from the dams! And that is an interesting point that Preast asked about. What line actually balances with it? The reason for asking is that, once you get below a one-weight, the ratings of the rods and lines become a bit hazy, to say the least.

How well does it cast a weighted fly?

Sorry all. I've been away from here for a bit. I have a standard WF0F on it and it seems fine. It handles weighted nymphs (up to size 14, 12 at a pinch) on a short-medium cast but timing is critical. All in all it is a heap of fun and I love the looks I get from other anglers!
