As a retired DNR employee, I recognize that it is illegal to be in possession of wildlife without the appropriate permits, and generally there are no permits for non-game animals (and certainly not birds covered by the Migratory Birds Convention Act), but except in the case of rare or endangered species, it is generally not enforced for people picking up dead animals. On the other hand, it is illegal here to keep a deer or moose that you have hit with your vehicle unless you have a valid hunting license, in which case you must use your tag to keep it. That's under review, by the way. You raise a good point, though. I do have partial skins of furbearers and a few little items from migratory songbirds, all taken from already dead beasts. But yep, its illegal. Now, I can BUY almost all that stuff at my local fly shop; I wonder what the deal is? Might be fun to end up in front of a judge on account of possessing parts of a flattened tree rat or a 'grilled' bluejay. brent

I'll bet you'll have nightmares about it now that I've resurrected it.

My local Lake Norman is supposed to be a good crappie lake, but I haven't found anyone yet that will take me fishing for them.
