Hot Sauce after a vinegar bath will suffice, and of course, they made a BUNCH of these, so buy NIB models if you can like Richard said. They are neat little reels that you won't cry too bad over if you ding it up on the rocks.

I want to say that there is a standard foot size that has now been adopted. Feet for UL reels is tricky because there is a tendency for the makers to want to downsize the feet in proportion to the rest of the reel. This invariably creates short or thin feet for normal hardware. Generally, custom rods tend to reduce the size of the seat hardware, whereas factory models do not. My pet peeve is steeply slanted feet. These are the hardest to fit to sliding bands. However, no slant, like on Ocean Cities, mean that the reel either fits or it won't go on at all. If I were to design on ultralite reel, I would stay with a normal foot with a very gradually taper and retain the ability to change out the foot with a 4 screw attachment to the reel itself. Bob Dennison sells a complete reel seat with some of his mini-reels because he knows they will not fit anything else. REC used to make an aluminum and wood insert uplock that would be great in titanium. Don

Don; if I'm trying to use an ocean city reel on a rod with cork and rings, i just cut a piece of dun foam abut 3mm thick the exact size of the foot, and insert it under the foot; its barely seen, but holds the reel in place; but differentsize feet on reels just drive a cork and ring guy crazy........

Yep. You can shim a reel foot the same way with the sticky back foam available at the craft store. Another problem with OC reals is that they tend to be a little wide for many rings. A cap and ring is much more forgiving than double rings. I like a pocketed cap, Garrison style. However, there are some pocket caps that will only take very thinnly toed feet. By the by, Bob Dennison will thin the feet on his reels if you ask nicely. Won't reanodize it though. Don

Found one for you guys, this is a Vosseler RC2. There's a smaller (2-1/2") version, the RC1 They also make a large arbor version It's a little jewel with a smooth (and very quiet) internally adjustable clicker that is equal in either direction. The workmanship is amazing - it puts Ross to shame. This ebay seller has the best price in the world: Rocklandsmerefishery reelsI got this reel home for $117.

Nice looking reel Bulldog....
I almost bit on one of these a couple of years ago...nice drag......very smooth from the one that I handled...various anodized colors that you can mix and match....what stopped me is that the seller on ebay only accepted Paypal and I don't have an account.
I've thought about an RC1 for my Dorber 2wt, but at 3.34 ozs it's about twice the weight of a Forbes 2" Avon...
Still......you got a real beauty! Is it going to be dedicated to any particular rod?
David

I haven't picked a rod match for it yet, but it balances very well with my Scepter built up by Dwight Lyons.
I paid 75 Euro (and shipping is also much less from the UK than from Germany).
