As long as we are talking about the book by Peter Gathercole, I agree it is a fabulous book. Probably pretty simplistic for some of the veteran tiers around here. But I couldn't be happier with it.

I have a pretty extensive "e-book" library, and I do a fair amount of reading on my iPhone. But for me, there is nothing like turning a real page. (Or having the book sitting on my tying desk while working on a pattern.) So even with a free pdf version available, I'd gladly pay (and did) the small price for adding it to the library.

I have a hard copy (spiral bind is very nice; you can actually leave it open on the table). It's a good pattern book with tying sequences for each fly in color (not just material lists). The title is a little bit misleading, though, if you are not careful. It's a collection of 100 deadly TROUT and SALMON flies (who would refuse a fly like WB, Adams, PT, GRHE, or Clouser?). For each pattern the target spices are listed (don't be mislead other spices would happily take some of the flies listed). Some worked, many haven't yet for me.

I have a copy myself and agree it is a great book. When I first started tying I spent a lot of time with this book and the step by step tutorials of Al Campbell on the FAOL website. Mr. Campbell has passed on but FAOL still has has his work on the web site.
