Next to my Christmas Stocking was a copy of this book. I have read a bit in it. Very interesting book on some of the Founders of fly patterns we fish to this day and how they influenced much of patterns we use.

This book appears to be a very interesting read. The history of the important flies that reside in our fly boxes and their originators should intrest tiers and fly fishers on all levels. It's on my wish list. Thanks for the post.

I have just ordered a copy of this book, so will let you know my findings. I considered it a potential investment in my fly tying. There is very rarely anything new in this world, so thinking along the lines of "The past being the proof of the future", or something like, who knows what twists and turns might result. Adapting patterns using new materials, has to be good.
