Using a drop shot is not something commonly used over this side of the pond ,but the sensitivity and main advantage of short line nymphing is the fact that there is direct link to the flies . I would be concerned that using it would introduce a break in that . Some of the rivers I fish are pretty pressured fish are pretty switched on and any loss of sensitivity in the rig would not help. same reason that if indicators are used at all say in French nymphing people use the in line type. Great forum not been on it as much as I should

I don't always nymph, but when I do, I only do it tight line. Czech nymphing works well during the run off period close to shore and in eddies during that month of run off. But the rest of the year when you can get out in the water and hit the seams, it's a killer way to fish.

I have heard many wonderful reviews on the Syndicate rod, so good for you Johnny, I'm glad you are having a good time fishing this particular style.
