Anyone got any tips on netting fish when wading? I was out this morning in a fast running river, with a soft action 10' 2 weight rod, and struggled with netting several fish. Bringing the fish in from downstream, it was difficult to get it close enough to me because of the soft rod action. On other fish I tried to manoeuvre them upstream of me and then to let them drop back towards the net, but the water pressure on the net made this pretty difficult too.
Any tips would be really appreciated.

Here’s something that may help.

A while back on another forum there was a pretty long thread in which they discussed whether or not to use light rods, and most people were against the practice. But one guy was defending it and he posted a link to a video.

I personally don’t use such long rods, though I certainly use UL and light tippets. But I do use some of the tactics discussed in the video. Here is the link.
